I experienced both good and a bad service. Initially, I spent more than a month just trying to make an appointment. The lady on the phone for customer service was extremely rude, unhelpful and condescending. I wasted more than a month because of her just to get an appointment. She blatantly ignored my doubts and questions, and did not do anything with my visa request. I did not get an appointment for 40 days. Later, when I tried calling after 40 days, a gentleman picked up the customer service line and finally booked an appointment for me. He was very fast, helpful and kind. After that, the process went quick. I am thankful to this gentleman on the customer service, and owe my visa to him. I would advice that during Corona, try calling again and maybe get a different and more helpful person on the line. Wasting precious time because of some unhelpful employees is not the answer.

So I requested an appointment in October and the first available one was in December (2 months in a European consulate in a European country!!). Appointment was at 3:10 PM and I arrived 10 minutes early as requested. 3:20 now and there is one person waiting before me and one person in (have been in for 15 minutes). So seems I will be in by 3:40, having to wait outside in the freezing cold for 40 minutes from the time they gave themselves! Such a shame

The team responded to my emails promptly and even called me pro-actively to make sure all my questions were answered and I was well-prepared before my appointment. At the appointment, the waiting time was reasonable and the nice lady with the Bavarian accent who took on my case, actually helped and advised me according to my personal situation while having a friendly tone and even a smile. The case workers seem to actually be interested in helping the \citizens\ and providing them with the best possible service. I am used to this kind of service from the Dutch administration, but not from Germany at all. I'm thankful for the quick and very service-oriented processing of my passport needs and really wish this kind of practice would become standard in Germany as well. Way to go!

Recently I got a job offer with a university in Germany with the contact starting June 1, 2020. Phone and online booking of appointment for a work-visa is no longer possibe due to covid19. So, I sent a mail to [email protected], asking for any possible appointment date. But its been 2 months already and there is no mail yet about a possible appointment. Does anyone know a way out for me? I need the visa to start the job. I am also praying the job giver does not run out of patience. If you have advice for me, please feel free to mail me at [email protected]. Thank you.
