I go along with some of my rather critically guide-fellows: it is not a bad restaurant yet it is not a special one neither. The menu offers some standards, the day’s special seems to be a bit more on the fresh side. Nevertheless it was not sparkling in taste. Service is ok, not bad, not spiky. White wine was available either-or, no selection. Good to go on a normal, average day.

Updated review: 5 stars. The food was even better than what I remembered and the music was nice. I know we can rely on De Knijp for great food when most restaurants are already closed. First review: 4 star. Great atmosphere and food. This place is open late (kitchen closes at 00:30) which is just perfect. The only thing we did not enjoy was the music, which was sending completely different vibes.

Really exciting when I come here. Always eaten well, a guarantee even if with high prices for my standard I would choose it anyway!

The lamp shank is unbelievable, so tendered, so flavored. Even the white wine is great. Good atmosphere, too. One of the best experience in Amsterdam.

My recomendation is absolute. De Knijp is a nice folksy oldish place with a relaxed atmosphere. I was there late a Thursday after a concert. Very short walk from Concertgebouw. Had a Lamb shank, half a red wine and for dessert a Caramell with a nice Irish on the side. Even alone on business it works, but of course it’s always better to share a meal with others. But I can’t blame the restaurant for traveling by my self :) I would definately not hesitate to bring friends, colleagues or customers here. The menu is relatively short, and means quality. My lamb was perfectly done with a nice selections of potatoes and vegetables. The Caramell is one of my absolute favourites of desserts. It tasted wonderfully and absolute home made! If I also could get it luke warm I would literally be in heaven :) The Irish was nice to warm the inside with as it was a bit chilly outside. (Always important with an excuse...) :) Basically: Go here if you want to enjoy yourself with some good decent folksy food. And bring your friends!
