This is a good place, great service and excellent atmosphere. Unfortunately their food is middling and the portions are modest, which is really a let down, as everything else is terrific.
I tried Indian food for the first time in Auckland, New Zealand, two years ago. I have tried allot of different Indian restaurants all over Europe but was always been left super disappointed: nothing could compare to that first experience. I am so happy to have found Purna, a real Indian restaurant. As if I needed more reasons to visit the beautiful city of Amsterdam. The food is really, really good and the waiter was very friendly, making sure we were happy with all the dishes we ordered. The atmosphere could be best described as going to a friend's home for dinner, very nice and cozy. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. 100/100. Prices are also reasonable: starters range from 4-6 euros, main dishes from 15-22 euros and extras from 5-7 euros. I was going to recommend dishes, but all of their dishes are honestly so so good. Cannot wait to go back.
I came across Purna while wandering the streets of Amsterdam one evening & I am so glad I did. I ate there about a month ago and I'm still thinking about the delicious tandoori chicken that I had. Indian food is a favorite of mine and Purna was hands down the best Indian I've ever had in a restaurant. The service was professional, warm, and prompt. The staff convey a family atmosphere, as if you've come to their home to enjoy a meal instead of being in a bustling city. I can't recommend this place enough.
A nice place for a curry fix.
Absolutely amazing Indian restaurant. Staff are very friendly. The naan is made with a proper clay oven which makes a world of difference. Well priced for what you get.
The taste of the food was disappointing while the prices were quite high. We were looking for a nice traditional Indian restaurant and this was a waste of time and money.
I was quite disappointed with this experience. I saw the good reviews and the restaurant looked so welcoming and cute from the outside with modern furniture and fresh flowers. But inside the decor is outdated and have plastic flowers on the tables. The menu needs a serious refresh as well as the crockery and presentation. The salads were very sad and unappetizing and the other dishes were ok. There are so many cute places in Amsterdam that I would hope they bring their standards up and offer something a bit more fresh.
