Stunning location, very chic setting, amazing exteriors and interiors, very good professional service, BUT the food was kind of average despite a very esthetic presentation. Don't expect too much. Deserts were delicious, very tiny but enough. The salads though were a size of a small side dish. Worthy visiting if you want to impress somebody on a business meeting or on a date, but taste wise - not special. Still recommended, just don't expect an explosion of taste.

Hoofdstad Brasserie was the best place in Amsterdam! We started off with the Tapenade d’olives et tomates, servies avec du pain. I loved the Olive tapenade, it was perfect. I had the Filet de volaille gavé au maïs Barbeque. The chicken was tender and had the best flavor. There meal came with a salad and it was so delicious. I would have gotten a picture but we devoured that salad. It was just a plain salad with walnuts and the best dressing I've ever had. I'm very happy this restaurant was recommended to us. Definitely recommend and will be back when we visit again.

Had the Bib Gourmand menu, which was of the quality you’d expect it to be, if only very unsurprising. Staff are absolutely terrible: they forgot to take our order and when we waved at the waiter to grab his attention, he waved back at us, but did not get the hint. Also my plate was taken away before I was finished. This is the first time that happened to me in any restaurant ever. I believe this is a trainer restaurant for hotel school students: none of them should get a passing mark. The interior and surroundings are beautiful: if the brigade would put heart in their jobs this place could be magical: until this happens, go somewhere else.

They recently launched their new menu, based on French cuisine but with international influences. Super classic preparations, also table-side preparation, starting at a very reasonable price. You can go a bit crazy here as well of you feel like it, but with their 3-course BIB Gourmand menu you have a great value for money, plus one of the best views in Amsterdam!
