De Ru has a well-curated selection of high-quality products but lacks the expertise to go with it. I purchased a large quantity of Farrow & Ball paint from them without any primer, at their repeated insistence that I would not need it. This advice goes against the advice given by Farrow & Ball, which I unfortunately discovered too late. Instead of requiring two layers of paint, as De Ru told me I would need without primer, I ended up needing five: I did three myself and when that wasn't enough, I hired professional painters to finish the job. Following their advice cost me a very regrettable amount of time, stress, and money.
We've been in a few times and bought quite alot of F&B paint. Previously we have had good service but today it was just awful. There is an older lady with short grey hair who literally BARKED at us when entering because we asked her a question. She was unhelpful, sarcastic and incredibly RUDE. She spoke to us like we were wasting her time despite us spending 100's of Euros on paint. I would not recommend. She completely ruined our shopping experience.
There’s good news and bad. De Ru offers excellent service - very knowledgeable and friendly. Unfortunately, they overcharge big time. A can of Sigma paint is 63% (!) more expensive if you buy it at de Ru than if you do so online. De Ru’s excellent service comes at a, in my opinion, outrageous price.
De Ru is the ultimate authority on paint and wall paper in the Netherlands. This amazing store represents the best names in design paint and wall covers, their collection, yes I say collection because it is a fashion store more than a hardware, is at par with the best shops in London, Berlin and Paris. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and patient and help you in the thought process. Take your time and they will take their time for you!
