This building is extraordinary not only for its architecture but for what it stands for as well. I had lived in The Hague for a few months and could see its spire from my house and was intrigued by it from the day I arrived and promised myself I would do the tour. I had a visitor coming from home (Australia) so booked us in. To stand in each room guided through with our host, the depth of knowledge she passed on quite literally about everything from who donated the tiles on the floor, the sculptures and paintings and how why end when the international community decided to go ahead and build this incredibly important building. If you ever visit The Hague, this tour simply must be on your list of things to do. Even if you're staying in Amsterdam The Hague is less than an hour on the train so a day visit is easy. Do yourself a favour and check this extraordinary moving place out.

The Vredespaleis is the international law administrative building in The Hague, housing the International Court of Justice, the Permanent Court of Arbitration, The Hague Academy of International Law and the Peace Palace Library. While originally built to house the Permanent Court of Arbitration for settling international disputes, it grew to accommodate the other institutions. The court was in session, so I ended up only visiting the free to enter Visitors Centre of the Peace Palace, which houses an exhibition of the Peace Palace.

A nice short tour through the building. A most beautiful piece of art, architecture. Nice to visit for tourists but also a place to visit for locals and other Dutch. Parking free in the weekends, good to reach by bike or public transport.

The peace what we see here, so many other symbols represent so much. We love peace not war.

Truly captures peace. Be sure to make a stop to see this, even if you just intend to look at the exterior. There is a free information center which has a lot to see and hear. The exterior has a lot of symbolic art, including a peace flame, surrounded by stones of all countries. Exploring inside requires a reservation, which I imagine is very worth it.

A beautiful place with a lot of meaning. If you want to do a tour, it's best to book a day in advance on line. On the day of; it's hard to get tickets. The tour is well worth it
