Museum Martena is located in Franeker, Netherlands on Voorstraat 35. Museum Martena is rated 4.5 out of 5 in the category museum in Netherlands. Een stadsmuseum met aandacht voor de geschiedenis van de Franeker Universiteit, Anna Maria van Schurman en hedendaagse Friese kunst. Op dit moment bezig met een groot herinrichtingsplan waar we in 2019 €20000,- voor gekregen hebben van de BankGiro Loterij. De nadruk in het nieuw ingerichte museum ligt op de verhalen van de bewoners van het 16de eeuwse stadskasteel en activiteiten voor gezinnen met kinderen. In de negentiende eeuwse tuinkamer van mevrouw Huguenin mogen alle voorwerpen aangeraakt worden. Hier drink je een kopje thee, speel je op het harmonium of zit je op de Biedermeier bank heerlijk uit het raam te kijken.

This historical museum has a few special features that makes it wort visiting. One of then is the collection of objects and paintings relatief to the Franeker University. The other is the collection of objects from and about the first female student Anna Maria van Schuurman. A special treat for children id in the attic in the form.of a working model of a fancy fair. In springtime you can enjoy the special springflowers in the garden behind the Museum the so called stinzenflora you could find in the gardens of all the Frisian nobel houses.

Although i was bit scared by a painting of a dead baby.... This is only very few in the world painting dead child..... It is nice friendly museum in this nice old town Feneker.....

Leuk museum in een fraaie stad. Verrassend: best interactief. Wie had gedacht dat we getriggerd zouden worden om alle professoren te bekijken van de universiteit van Franeker? Maar de leuke opzet maakte dat we toch elke keer nog een knopje aanklikten. Persoonlijk hoogtepunt: de xylotheek. Aanrader: combikaart met het Eise Eisinga planetarium. Genoeg terrasjes in de buurt om het daarna af te sluiten met wat lekkers en je hebt een top dag in Friesland.
