I came to Makerdam early on, being one of the first entrepreneurs to establish a business here. Like any start-up, Makerdam has had it's hiccups getting to where it is today: a place where innovation goes to market. I am one of the oldest 'young Entrepreneurs' here. Which means I learn a lot from the other members AND I get to share my insights and experience to help younger entrepreneurs and creatives with their ideas. Everyday I get inspiration here for my own start-up SilcSkin Europe. With my consultancy Marketing : CEO, I can support businesses to go from 'start-up to up-and-running' The mix of international and multicultural people is truly representative of Rotterdam culture. The wide range of creatives here including fine artists, graphic designers, architects, product developers, marketing specialists, musicians, online specialists and artisans makes being at Makerdam truly inspiring. Makerdam is a great place to 'Make Ideas Work!'

I had a space in Makerdam for one year and two months. The only reason I left is because I'm moving out of the country soon, otherwise, I would have kept my studio there. I was very grateful to have been given the opportunity to rent a space there when it was impossible for me to get a space anywhere else without a chamber of commerce number. Is there room for improvement at Makerdam? Yes, but that's normal there and everywhere and can be fixed with time and clear, open communication. I didn't have any major problems. In fact, I was given the chance to exhibit my work and I was very happy with my studio and my experience. In general, it is a friendly community of Dutch and international people. You have access to a Fab lab (3D printer, laser cutter, etc), a kitchen, and a nice community of creative people. It's in a good location close to public transportation. I had a very good experience and I would recommend Makerdam to people looking for a studio space to do their creative work.

French Toast Studio

We've been members from Makerdam from early on and have always felt very welcome! We rent a space here, because we were looking for something where we could also prototype and produce our products. Thanks to the fab lab in Makerdam we have been able to grow our business! When there are problems with the machines, they always try to fix it as soon as possible! For us, Makerdam is exactly what has been promised to us!

I have been a resident of Makerdam for over 1 year and I love that place. It is very convininiently located in a beautiful Historical part of the city. The venue itself offers spacious work spaces and studios as well as new big kitchen with all the appliances, big meeting room and a lab room for makers. There is also an outside area on the sunny side. The management of Makerdam is very helpful and friendly! Other residents of makerdam are all of different backgrounds and professions which makes it such an interesting and vibrant space to work at. Even though it is a work space, there is a strong 'family' vibe to it as residents eat lunch together and are always there to help! I really recommend Makerdam!
