Lovely castle! Big carp in the water around it. There is a café, you can sit outside in the summer. Area around it is beautiful and great for nature walks.

If in Valkenburg, you must see this place, great a Beer and a Snack, lovely setting. Fish the size of sharks swim around the Mote and Lakes. The Kasteeltuin oud Valkenburg is a great stop off if your on a road trip and only have an hour.

Friendly, warm welcome. Very beautiful garden, well-maintained. There is a map of the castle garden at the entrance. We bought a small guidebook (in Dutch) but the owners took the time to give a short introduction at the start. It was interesting to learn that some of the plants there had edible stems and leaves (not the normal vegetables you can find in the supermarket). There you will find an orchard, vegetable garden, herb garden, water mill, birdhouses, apiary (bee yard), meadow, farmyard and more. The castle garden is a great place to explore, relax and enjoy the sights, smells and sounds. For those who want to learn how to identify plants, the plants are labeled (plant names are in Dutch with the scientific name/Latin name below).
