Fantastic teacher. Lots of patience for new learners as well. Gives a lot of background on music and not just teaching strings. teaching methods are also very individual specific which makes it easy to learn. Highly recommended.

I had bass, ensemble, and jazz theory lessons with Juan during my last year of high school. In that time, thanks to these lessons I took with him, I prepared and passed my audition to study music in university. Also, in the first semesters, Juan was my bass teacher. In these classes, apart from studying jazz, he encouraged me a lot to develop my own sound and musical identity by studying other styles and making my own arrangements. Most recently, exactly last December, I took a project management workshop with Juan, which gave me important and useful tools to apply in my personal projects, even outside music. Overall, and after many years of being taught and coached by Juan in aspects of music such as performance, theory, or management, for example, I would definitely recommend him as a trustworthy and encouraging teacher who can effectively help students find and use their own strengths.

Being Juan David's student in Bogotá was one of the decisive steps in my formation as a musician. His attentiveness to my process, great energy and enthusiasm, passion for music and creative pedagogic tools gave me, at an early stage (I was around 16-17), great direction. I felt enhanced not only as an instrumentalist, but rather as a musician as a whole. Juan David's experience and cross-genre knowledge made it easy for me and my classmates at the Pontifical Xaverian University to connect on a personal and emotional level to the topics being taught (harmony, stylistic improvisation, ensemble, sound, among others): no cold-hearted dusty knowledge, rather lively and useful tools.
