Plant-e Reviews | Rating 5 out of 5 stars (3 reviews)

Plant-e is located in Wageningen, Netherlands on Mansholtlaan 4. Plant-e is rated 5 out of 5 in the category biotechnology company in Netherlands. Would you like to see wetlands and rice paddy fields become power plants without harvesting the plants and without compromising original land-use? We do. Remote sensing, wastewater treatment, and DIY and demo set-ups – At Plant-e we research the technology, and develop products, that enable us to generate electricity with living plants, promoting multiple land-use and plant preservation. Via photosynthesis plants produce organic matter. Part of this organic matter is used for plant-growth, but part can’t be used by the plant and is excreted into the soil via the roots. Around the roots naturally occurring micro-organisms break down the organic compounds to gain energy from. In this process, electrons are released as a waste product. By providing an electrode for the micro-organisms to donate their electrons to, the electrons can be harvested as electricity. Research has shown that plant-growth isn’t compromised by harvesting electricity, so plants keep on growing while electricity is concurrently produced. More (tech) info? Visit www.plant-e.com
