I found a bird (meerkoet?) with a broken leg while I was running. He/she was in pain, as I can imagine, poor bird. So I called the Animal Rescue (this one). They told me I had to catch her/him, otherwise she couldn’t help me. I had nothing with me to catch it, as I was running. Whenever I approached the bird, he/she fled, causing more pain. I had to leave her/him in that state, just because they did not send anyone. I went home and changed my outfit and took a blanket with me to catch it, but I couldn’t find the poor bird. Now I feel sad knowing the bird is in pain and I could have made a difference. UPDATE: Thanks for the quick response. After calling I felt like some animals did not matter for the rescue team, but that is apparently not the case. Thanks for the clarification. Changed the stars to 4 stars. It would be helpful for a short explanation, like your response, while on the phone with you, as this would explain the decisions made :).

Don’t waste your time with them. Called them to get help with a bird whose open would needed an immediate help. I was told to bring the bird to their office. Did it to find out they have no veterinary doctor available. Was sent 12 km away to the vet. After another call found out they only answer the phone. The bird would have been euthanized if I left it there.

The wonderful animal angels arrived in almost no time. I fished a hedgehog (egel) out of the canal who was floating very tired and had water in its lungs. This is just the most wonderful service - I am donating tomorrow and you should too.
Phoned in about a young Ka/Kauw that got stuck in our garden and could not fly away. Animal ambulance arrived within the hour and quickly caught the bird and took it with them to regain strength. Very friendly people!
