Super nice workshop with a very relaxed vibe. Umut is very helpful and patient when explaining.

I took courses een en twee from Umut and learned a lot! It’s slow going so don’t rush but worth the time to learn to use the tool correctly.
I was looking for speaker stands and came across Espenaer. After a nice and inspiring conversation Espenaer developed three ideas for the stands which we discussed in detail (what kind of wood for which parts etc.). The final result is even better than I expected. A unique piece of furniture: very functional while looking like a truly handcrafted piece of art.
Great space with a great host to teach you all you need to get going with woodworking!
I've followed 2 levels of classes at Espenaer. I absolutely recommend this school. Teacher and owner Umut is kind, patient and communicates well his passion for traditional woodworking. Classes are available in English so it was awesome for ma as I am from Canada and my Dutch was definitely not strong enough yet ! The shop is clean and well equipped, you don't need to buy tools beforehand to follow the course which is ultra convenient for beginners to have a ''taste'' of traditional woodworking. If you have never touched woodworking and want an introduction, this is the best place to go in Amsterdam
I've followed two courses with Umut and I must say I was very satisfied. Next to the basic techniques of woodworking, I learned a lot about different types of wood. The courses were really relaxed and interesting!
