OK, this is about the delivery service, NOT the restaurant. As a long time superfan of the cuisine, I've been to the restaurant many times. And yes, service can be very slow, I know. But the food is too good to pass. So when they started to deliver at home I could not wait to order...so far so good. Since the delivery started years ago I had many great meals. But the slow service crept in here as well Again, I tolerated the incidental 1-2 hour delays. Now jump to today, I ordered at 17.16 to make sure I was in time to beat the rush hour. It is now 19.35 and even though I called an hour ago to check on my order, still no delivery. Yes, the food is awesome, but I'm getting to the tipping point and will seek alternatives for the coming months. I hate to write this, but I must share this hoping the owner will take his loyal customers seriously. Needless to say, of course I'll be back, but taking a break from Issa Deli might be for the better for now. I'm sorry Issa...

I liked the place. The food is great and shows other elements of japanese cuisine but it comes out the kitchen slowly. Make sure you have a chill night ahead of you when you visit this place. Make sure to get the traditional (and forgiving) seats in the back. Fun little experience.
You get 10% discount if you pay at the counter. The sushi is pretty darn good. It consists of two places, the restaurant section and the take away section. The restaurant is well decorated. The take away only place to sit is a waiting table, so absolutely no thrills there.
I do not know why many people below left a bad score I have been to Issa several times with my friends. The food is great especially from the Japanese menu(yes they have a Japanese menu!). It's authentic and much much better than something in find in city centre of Amsterdam,especially those in Spui with a high score. Yes I have to say that i also experienced once about more an hour of waiting for the food to be prepared with my friends, but when we gone the food everyone praised the quality. I can see that maybe they are really understaffed, but each time I go there I feel I am welcomed by the chef.
Good food and the traditional seating in the back has great ambiance. It's best to head over to the counter yourself when you've finished and are ready to pay.
Amazing service and great food. If you've been to Japan, this is a great place to feel like a Gaijin again for a brief moment. ;)
Usually great food, but service is pretty much non existent, as the owner works with 16 year olds who barely know anything about food. Ordering at home is also not recommended due to the long wait before food arrives.
Very good food but don't try to order delivery, 4 out of 5 time something will be missing, delayed, mixed up. It has deteriorated over last year unfortunately.
