A wonderful shop with excellent *and* knowledgeable service - the latter isn't always easy to find nowadays. Knotsknetter has inventive, high-quality toys for babies and young children that I have never seen elsewhere. I'm always happy to hear when a colleague or friend has had a baby as it means an excuse to come here and buy a watermelon or sushi or lobster or octopus 'teddybear'.

In my opinion this is the best independent toy store in Amsterdam. I can always find something for my kids or gifts for others (and so can my son!) They buy in good quality and cute items. I'm not sure why there are complaints about the wrapping paper and service, it's free and everyone is friendly.
Cute toys and all, but curmudgeonly service and a 2 stealth charge for gift wrapping.
