Being born and raised Portuguese I'm always picky when it comes to Portuguese restaurants outside Portugal. We saw this place when we were roaming Amsterdam streets and decided to give it a go. The prices always seem steep when you see a Bitoque for 14.50 but we are in another country so we can't complain. As you go inside you are welcomed by Amália singing , a big mosaic with Fernando Pessoa, Padrão dos Descobrimentos, Camões etc, a big painting of Palácio de Sintra as seen on the photo. It was just the two of us in the restaurant and no other client. We look through the menu and my partner ordered Bacalhau à Brás and I ordered Carne de Porco à Alentejana. It's a very diverse menu and as food was being prepared you hear the microwave a couple times which makes me think how fresh the food was. As expected from a Portuguese restaurant the doses were quite big and the price is no longer a problem as the food was very tasty as well. She enjoyed the Bacalhau à Brás and it was very well presented. By the end there was another 8 people in the restaurant. The staff was polite, the food was more than enough and very good, the service was rather quick and overall a very Portuguese experience.

Amazing chicken piri piri Beatiful tiled on the wall. The lady is very friendly. I love chicken piri piri and piri piri suace look like olive oil.
The service is really really slow! I was with a party of five and it took forever to be served. We waited almost an hour for our entrees. We were so hungry and asked to be given bread at least but they told us it was 3.50! The kind waitress was really forgetful and failed to bring half the party their appetizers. The food was mostly dry and over cooked. The chicken was dry and extremely spicy. The fries were good though. Overall just a bad experience.
