Unbound is not the tranquil place it is made out to be. It is next to a main road, a railway track and on the flight path, close to Schipol. Planes flew overhead every few minutes during the day and even at 3:30 am. The cabin shook it was so load. Our cabin had no curtains covering the windows. Not ideal when your baby goes to bed at 7pm. 9pm and still not asleep, "Light off"...errm, it's not the light, there are no curtains for some reason. It's not secluded or in nature as the website will have you believe. The staff were really lovely and accommodating in general. The food was average other than breakfast which was nice. For one night, it came to EUR500 for a small cabin including dinner and wine. Very poor value for money, even in corona times.

All-around excellent staycation! I took my partner here for a birthday getaway, and it was perfect. Close enough to the city yet in a more rural area with open fields. Responsive staff that made our stay special. Comfortable accommodation with thoughtful flourishes of color. Great sunlight during the day, and enjoyed watching the sunset from the rooftop terrace. Felt great to use the sauna and cold tub. And the food was tremendous, especially considering the circumstances. 5/5 would recommend to a friend ;)

Had the best 24 hours of the year here! What a way to relax and NOT think about coronavirus for a while. Soaking in the hottub looking at the stars, with the woodsmoke and steam wafting around you is the best therapy! Staff is super forthcoming and responsive. Orders being delivered to your cabin within 10 minutes gives you that smashing 5 star feeling. Treat yourself, and rediscover there's more in life than Covid and lockdowns.

Unbound has just recently opened so there are a few kinks still to work out. A little staff training would go a long way: we were told we could use the roof deck, then couldn’t actually reach it from our room; we were offered to have our coats taken as we arrived at dinner, then told to find them ourselves when leaving; we asked to have breakfast delivered to the room, confirming this multiple times, then having to call in the morning and order it again since nothing showed up; and finally, receiving a hotel bill with almost 100 of wine and food and extras added that we hadn’t ordered. Additionally the room was in poor shape with the ceiling tiles falling down and scratches all over the walls, which is odd considering it was only 2 months old. Design wise most of the rooms are glass boxes — but only face each other, so you’ll end up hiding behind the curtains most of the day, defeating the point of the glass walls. The ‘terrace’ of our room was largely unusable as you’ll see in the photo of the stairs. Basically it turns out the room next to ours has a terrace AND the whole roof deck, whereas our terrace is only the space under the stairs to their roof deck. What is the point? You should put their stairs on their terrace. You can’t call ours a terrace, who wants to sit under your neighbor’s stairs?

The perfect staycation! Only 20 minutes from Amsterdam but it feels like a world away. We had a relaxing weekend with our family and friends. Beautiful food, the accommodation is minimal and beautifully designed for the setting. We also really enjoyed the outdoor yoga sessions. Highly recommend.
