Oudemanhuispoort

Lovely passage to stroll in during the weekend. The 15 vendors have an incredibly huge amount of second-hand books in many different language (a lot in Dutch, French and English) at very reasonable prices. They are also selling sheet music, maps and old engravings sometimes. If you enter the small alcoves on the side you can climb the ladders and try to find something interesting, I could spend hours there! It is impressive to realize that this book market is held daily since 1879.

Tiny reminder that the sellers only accept cash, but there are some nearby places (including an ING) with an ATM.
Go camping - need a book Wandering Amsterdam you stuble on hidden gems like this one....the Oudemanhuispoort book market. When heading for the Waterlooplein fleamarket make a small detour and discover this little gem. Anything from novels to collectables is being sold in one of the many stalls. Only a few stores open when I went, but some great finds.
We were a little late and almost all the shops were closed. A couple of them were open and we asked the shopkeeper whether we can look for some books. He was very polite and old as the name of the place suggest. It was a shop filled with thousands of book, specially old ones. Books were organised by genere. Poetry , history , art etc. Books were available in English, Dutch, and French. It felt like we were in a library of medieval time, which according to me is a best place to be, We decided to buy couple of books and Promised ourselves to come back again a bit early.
