It is rare that a bar or restaurant lives up to so many good reviews but Café De Dokter really does. The owners are very welcoming and make you feel at home straight away. It is a small space but I see it as a positive, as like we did you will end up speaking to the people around you which adds to the atmosphere. There is a great selection of beers with a few specials on. We had a Lambic, a triple bock and Abbey beer which were all great and in the proper glasses. There are bar snacks and although we didn't order any the cheese/meat board with extras looked great. Overall a great experience and easy to stay a few hours. A must visit when in Amsterdam.

The oldest bar in AMSTERDAM. A must visit, and a priceless experience. My favorite place period. I find myself completely in love with the interior of this place.
Beautiful little Brown Cafe with a very friendly barman. Perfect for Jenever time.
6th generation bar owned by lovely couple, great drink selection with an intimate atmosphere that felt right out of the 1940s
