I really can’t understand all of these negative reviews. Went in there for an emergency visa, and both the receptionist and the guy who handled my visa were so amazingly NICE. There were people in front of me who had a messed up application because they clearly didn’t read the visa procedure well enough (they clearly state on the website, if you do not hold a DUTCH passport (regardless of whether you consider yourself to be half Dutch or whatever), you NEED an UITTREKSEL). Also, they were planning in bringing cameras and filming in Ghana, which is considered press/media! Well the guy at the desk was doing everything in his power to help them get their visa so they can fly out in 2 days! He was doing the same with another lady who only brought copies of her documents and not her originals. For my application, I didn’t upload my residence permit into my application. He said NO PROBLEM, just email me a photo of it right now, and that was that. I got my emergency visa 2 hours later. In my experience, it was the people who were getting visas that were being extremely rude! Acting very entitled and annoyed because they didn’t bring the correct documents with them and therefore the applications could not immediately be processed. One guy brought a signed note from his girlfriend or whomever stating that he could pick up her visa or something on her behalf. NOT ALLOWED. Read the website 10, 20, 30 times! If you’re still not sure, CALL. They’re not trying to intentionally keep people from going to Ghana. Tourism, students, people going on business...it’s all lucrative for their economy.

The lady at reception is amazingly helpful and kind. Some of the staff can be a bit less kind but some other people are exceptionally nice. If you have all you need ready, there should be no problem :)

Be polite, follow their rules and check check double check your application for any mistakes before you submit anything online prior to your appointment. To me it seems the rude encounters with the staff mainly happen when people make mistakes in their application... It's definitely not the most heartwarming place I've ever been in my life, but reading the reviews gives me the impression Satan himself inhabits this place, haha. It's really not that bad. At all.
