This monument stands in tribute to Johannes Voet, a 17th & 18th century Dutch jurist who worked in the field of modern Roman-Dutch law. Voet was an \old authorities\ of Roman-Dutch law, alongside jurists such as Simon van Leeuwen, Cornelius van Bynkershoek and Hugo Grotius (whose statues are on the same street). The statue depicts a seated Johannes Voet, dressed in legal attire and holding open a book of law in his right hand, with the book also resting on his right thigh. The sculpture is located outside the Supreme Court of Netherlands. Don't go out of the way to see it unless unless you're already going there.
