The vibe is very different compared to either classic or modern izakayas in Japan. Interior design is rather uninviting. It's an almost undecorated \cave\ underground. Also, obvious izakaya drinks like high balls, whisky sours, Japanese beers or whiskys were not the menu. I kinda expected robata as well, but....to each their own I guess. Quality of the food is very inconsistent. The codfish karaage is very good. Thin, crispy, crunchy batter/skin with moist beautiful pieces of fish. The gyozas were bland and texture wise mushy and soggy. The Diamanthaas tataki could be a fantastic dish if they didn't skimp on the beef quality. You could not taste the beef at all. Good charry/smokey flavour and the combination of the peppers and grated daikon is good. The baked aubergine with sweet miso unfortunately missed the mark too since it was overly sweet and not baked very well. Sake was excellent! With a bit more care for the food, I think this could turn into an amazing place to drink and eat.

Tikkeltje verstopt maar leuk. Spijkertjes onder de tafel zitten wat los, dus die steken uit. Verder erg goed eten. Vriendelijk prijzen. En drankkeuze door bierkelder ruim.
