The experience is very mixed, therefore, the score is 3/5. I discovered Fixed Gear Coffee in Maastricht in October, the blonde guy made very nice coffee, an excellent flat white with Colombian beans, and the apple pie was also very tasty, I came back in a week, and the long-haired barista was also very good. Next time it was a fiasco, the girl prepared mediocre far-from-special coffee with over-heated chunky milk which tasted like the worst train station coffee you could try but it was drinkable. Well, we all are not perfect, and we can make mistakes, so I gave this barista another chance, and came back again as I really enjoyed the coffee when the guys were at it. This time the experience was much worse. The coffee was very bad, and I could not drink it so I just poured out the coffee in the drain, and threw away the paper cup in the bin nearby. The staff is friendly, and I like the concept behind. Unfortunately, my overall impression is mixed, I avoid coming back to this café as I am worried the girl will be there and it is just cruel to walk away if I see her. Maybe it is just flat whites or I was really unlucky twice.
This is by far the best coffee in Maastricht! The brewing is perfect and the attention is one of a kind. Their apparel is cute also. If you have a sweet spot for cookies and bread, this is also your place! They also have a homemade chai, if coffee is not your thing and it tastes AMAZING. Definitely a must-go !!
Fantastic coffee and friendly baristas - would definitely recommend. They really take their time to make sure your order is just right. Also give good advice on beans and flavors!
Best coffee in Maastricht (and maybe even in the Netherlands). Beautifully located near the Vrijthof. The owners are always willing to explain and advice on all the coffee specialties available. Big plus is the space to bring your bike inside!
