Great fun unfortunately some renters can't steer a boat.

I can not recommend renting from this establishment. I took a point away because its completely self serve. the machine was malfunctioning and even though I paid in advance I was almost out of luck. Just as I was ready to leave a very nice and helpful repairman showed up and helped me. I took a point away because the boat had insufficient ties and I was unable to safely secure the boat to to stop and go to a restaurant or go shopping. Once again a very nice gentleman stopped to help me secure the boat so that I could eat, but I had to use a bag I had with me to rig a less than adequate way to secure the boat. Lastly I took a point away because of a lack of signage and or clarity as to how to properly return the boat when done. I ended up leaving it in front of the rental building, but because of the lack of sufficient ties, it was left hanging out in the canal. The boat itself was fantastic, clean, quit and easy to use, I really enjoyed myself in Giethorn when I wasn't struggling with the challenges I mentioned. I highly recommend a visit to this beautiful town. I would rent a boat from another boat rental company. What a shame.
The boat was very dirty and the ignition didn't work properly. Thus, the price was elevated for what you get. Better to go somewhere else.

Renting these boats is very easy via the website. You get a code that allows you to get a key from the key cabinet yourself. You park your car in the spacious (free) parking lot P6, and then you walk to the rental company. Here is a small shop with ice creams and drinks. There are also clean toilets. The friendly owner gave us a map and some tips about the route to sail, and then we went on our way. The boats are very nice, modern, and very easy to steer. Even my children could handle it. Giethoorn itself is very busy with boats, but beyond Giethoorn it is very quiet and you can enjoy the beautiful nature. We enjoyed it very much and will definitely do this again! Tip: bring some food and drinks so you can picnic on the island in the lake.
