We are a public international primary school offering a happy, safe and encouraging learning environment where everyone feels welcome and valued. Surrounded by nature, our location in Hoofddorp is a small 15 minutes from Schiphol Airport and the city of Haarlem, and only 20 minutes from Amsterdam. Learning is fun, engaging and inspiring! We make learning visible by providing inquiry-based education and giving children the opportunity to discover and develop their unique talents and learning skills. We embrace each child’s continuous learning journey; ‘Bringing out your child’s inner magic’. Our language of instruction is English, and our core programme is based on the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and we use the British National Curriculum for language and mathematics. Along with our class teachers and learning support assistants, we also have specialist teachers for additional support in English, Dutch as an additional language (DAL) and physical education (PE). Great place for the kids! They have so much fun learning. My kid loves to go there. The teachers make sure the kids get a personalized approach to steer their habilities. They are also very loving with them. Its been a very positive experience. Highly recommended!!

Optimist International School is a warm and welcoming place. We noticed it from day one! Our kids love to go there. It's their second home and in this atmosphere you learn best! Among the things which positively impressed us the most we want to highlight the customized level of education and support each kid get based on their specific skills and needs. We think that's a very crucial factor for an international school where kids are joining the school coming from different countries with different backgrounds, educational level and skills. We highly recommend the OIS.

Moving from one country to another can be an unsettling experience (at best) or a traumatic experience (at worst), for both parents and children. Finding a school where your child can integrate easily and comfortably into the routine, culture and language of the host country is one of the challenges faced by parents. There is much to consider, but always with the well-being of our children foremost in mind. From our initial interaction with the OIS School Director to the first meeting with the new teachers, we have found this new school to be a perfect fit for our expat family. The Director was engaging and interested in our requirements as a family. The teachers were extremely patient, kind and caring, to our children. Each of them were treated as an individual, with individual needs, concerns, and strengths. The entire teaching and support staff have displayed an enthusiasm for the school and passion for the growth of each child. The IPC curriculum supports learning at an individual pace and ability level. After-school activities are varied and interesting, exposing our children to computer programming, exploring their creative talent in art, and improving their swimming ability. We could not be happier with our choice to send our kids to OIS.
