House specialty is the horse steak if that’s your thing. Food was good and the atmosphere was a nice mix of locals and tourists alike. A nice little family run joint. Don’t order the house wine - it comes from a box.

I enjoyed the dinner so much. The food was delicious and the service very pleasant. Definitely recommend to visit this place.
Piet de Leeuw is a lovely place with history and also very Dutch. It is famous for its steaks. But ofcourse there is something else to eat if you want. The staff is really doing their best to make you feel comfortable, And with nice weather you can sit outside also, Piet de Leeuw, still a hidden secret) A no nonsense place)
Apparently it's a family-owned place that has been around for years and sticks very much to traditional dishes; meat-lovers in Amsterdam ought to seek this place out. I'd eaten here before, sharing a table with other diners as they were pretty full (they're quite popular - a reservation is advised) and had a pork with pepper sauce which turned out to be pretty tasty. They also have a range of good strong beers, wifi and took credit card, so that was my evening sorted! I returned with a friend on another night when we had steaks - beef for me, horse for him. Both dishes came with a bowl of chips plus a side salad (and mayo, being Dutch). The steaks were cooked well, sitting in their own juices and quite tasty (but small for the price). Both of us enjoyed the meal - they're known for their cooking there - and I've returned a few times since. Definitely for meat-lovers; you're assured a good meal there.
Wonderful food, visited twice on our short break to Amsterdam, so good we will be back next time
