For me this was quite an unusual museum experience but an excellent one. For EUR 14 you get to have: an oil platform experience with some test and the experience is excellent for children and adults alike, you have a very interesting experience in the drugs museum and you ca also visit the ships outisde. Some of the ships are also open for visiting and can have some crafts for children as well. Highly recommend this visit. When we were there the children were very numerous and happy to enjoy all experiences prepared for them. On the last floor you there are also some special experiences for children.

Maritime history, indoors and outdoors at historic Leuven harbor in Rotterdam. Fascinating small and huge objects and photos. At walking distance from many beautiful and interesting places, buildings, monuments, bridges across Meuse river, gateway from Europe's largest sea port to the hinterland: all of Europe.

Since Rotterdam is world renowned for its shipping ports, I decided to use my one free day on my business trip to stop by. Very insightful display of the maritime history of Holland and Rotterdam. I really enjoyed the outdoor displays and the ships you could actually climb on board. Very cool step into what life would have been like for early shippers. Inside, the oil rig interactive experience was AMAZING. You complete a series of 9 mini games which help you understand a bit about what it would be like working on an oil rig. I failed miserably (TIP: pick beginner, not advanced skill level). This does take 45 minutes to an hour, so plan accordingly. The rest of the inside displays were very informative, however, the inside space was much smaller than I pictured. Also, it would have been nice to see more of a timeline story with models and pictures that showed the progression of the port and technology over the years. Still, overall a great museum that I would highly recommend!

Even if you only have time to wander around the maritime structures and vessels outside the museum just give it a try. It offers a fantastic use of public spaces surrounded by wonderful vistas of Rotterdam. It needs probably a little bit of upkeep outside, but it’s probably just because of the construction outside the museum.

The location is great. From central station you can get a tram- the stop is only a 2min walk feom the museum. The displays and layout is family friendly. I loved the outside dock/marina. So many different boats, the history of Rotterdam. We also loved the childrens play area I would like to go again.

Especially really good for children. I came in first place for historical impressions, mainly about the VOC, but experiencing many funny games and stories was fun too. There could be a bit more history in my eyes since the adult price isn't that low, but if you wanna visit a fun museum with your kids this is your place.

Loved it. The museum makes its visitors look at the port of Rotterdam in new lights and multiple times approached the future to ask the difficult questions that we as a society must answer.

Very nice museum. It has interactive section which is called 'offshore experience's where you can play on simulators to try out different professions. Besides that you can spend some time outside and step into old boats.
