This place is fantastic, but definitely reccomend doing the cruise to Maasvlakte 1 and Maasvlakte 2. The guide is in Dutch, but you can connect your phone to a GPS tour in different languages - so a pair of headphones is really useful. You learn loads about the newest part of Rotterdam port and can see loads of interesting stuff from the boat. The museum is also very good as well, with some excellent interactive displays for children and a small cafe. Make sure the wind doesn't blow your hat away.

If you ask me to summarise in one word, its 'Amazing'. Even if you have no interest in ports, big cranes ships, you will still be amazed by seeing the massive works and steel structures. The information centre is filled with information how Netherlands has claimed the land from sea. There is a reasonable sized restaurant with ample amount of snack and drinks. Also fresh sandwiches are available in reasonable price. Parking is free. Note: the entrance to the information centre is free but please pre book the tickes. Enjoy.

Interesting view of how new land is being created. I think it is impressive that the Dutch are putting nature reserves close to industrial areas - it provides additional encouragement to do industrial activities in an environmentally friendly way.

Great place to view all the ship's that enter into the port of Rotterdam, there is lots of information to educate you about the building process of Maasvlakte 2, there's also no entry fee so feel free to visit whenever you like!
