Wellicht één van de mooiste stadspoorten van Nederland. In 1465 wordt bij de stadsuitbreiding aan het eind van de Horstweg (het verlengde stuk van de Geertstraat) de Horstpoort gebouwd ter vervanging van de Geertpoort. Na de bouw van het Cellebroedersklooster aan de Horstweg in 1475 veranderen de namen van de Horstweg en -poort in de Cellebroedersweg en -poort. Vanaf 1527 heet de poort ook officieel de Cellebroederspoort. Vanwege verval wordt in 1607 besloten de poort te renoveren, een opdracht die in 1615 aan Thomas Berendtsz wordt toevertrouwd en in 1617 klaar is (vandaar de notitie MDCXVII aan de stadszijde van de poort). De poort ligt fraai op de grens van de oude stad en het stadspark.

Als je van oude gebouwen houdt,vind je dit mooi ! Stukje historie. Verder niets bij te doen. Alleen kijken.
