The Monument of Jewish Resistance (Monument vor Joods verzet) is situated at the corner of Amstel and Zwanenburgwal in the city centre. It serves as a memory of the Jewish members of the resistance who lost their lives during WWII. This is the work of Belgian sculptor Josef Glatt (1988) and is in the manner of traditional Jewish tombstones. It is a metre tall granite column which includes both Hebrew and Dutch engravings. It is a touch memorial and reminder of the tragedies of war. You can combine with a quick visit to the Spinoza Monument just 20-30 metres away.

Good spot for photos on the canal but it means a lot more if you know the history of the place and the buildings behind the monument. Research it.

Very nice and calm place. I was sitting on a bench near the monument for for quite some time between 7-10 am. The best time to see a different calmer side of Amsterdam.

Worth a visit if you're around in the quarter. Also a great view of you're not interested in the memorial
